Venue

Customs House, on the Brisbane River.

Customs House

399 Queen Street, Brisbane QLD 4000, Australia

Customs House is a heritage-listed building on the north bank of the Brisbane River, at the northern end of the city centre. Built in 1889, it is owned and run by The University of Queensland. Its copper dome and sandstone colonnade are one of the more recognisable things on the river.

The whole meeting happens in two adjoining rooms. Sessions are held in the Long Room under the dome; catering, posters and the exhibition are next door in the River Room. Nothing is split across floors or buildings, and there are no parallel sessions.

Getting there

On foot. Customs House is about ten minutes’ walk from most city hotels, at the Queen Street end of the CBD.

By train. Central station is roughly a ten minute walk.

By ferry. The Riverside terminal is directly below the building. Brisbane’s CityCat service is a pleasant way to arrive and connects to South Bank and the university’s St Lucia campus.

By car. There is no parking at Customs House. Commercial car parks operate nearby.
