Things to do
If you are adding days either side of the meeting.
Suggestions for delegates and accompanying people, in and around the city. We will expand this page closer to the meeting.
In the city
- South Bank — parkland along the river opposite the CBD, with the Queensland Art Gallery, the Gallery of Modern Art, the Queensland Museum and a great many places to eat.
- City Botanic Gardens — a short walk from Customs House, on the river bend.
- Howard Smith Wharves — bars and restaurants under the Story Bridge, ten minutes’ walk downstream from the venue.
- Mount Coot-tha — the botanic gardens and a lookout over the city and out to the bay.
- Story Bridge climb — for those who like that sort of thing.
Wildlife
- Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary — about twenty minutes from the city, reachable by road or by river cruise.
Further afield
- Moreton and North Stradbroke Islands — sand islands in the bay, reachable by ferry as a long day trip.
- Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast — beaches, an hour or so either side of the city.
- Scenic Rim and Lamington National Park — subtropical rainforest inland.
- Great Barrier Reef — a short domestic flight north.
